Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon instant yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
Garlic powder (optional)
Directions
Prepare the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
Add warm water and yogurt to the dry ingredients. Mix until it forms a dough.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Naan
Once the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal portions.
Roll out each portion into an oval or round shape (about 1/4 inch thick).
Add Cheese and Flavor
Brush the surface of each naan with melted butter.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough.
Optionally, sprinkle chopped fresh cilantro and a pinch of garlic powder over the cheese.
Cook the Naan
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
Place one naan on the hot skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles start to form on the surface and the bottom is golden brown.
Flip the naan and cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes until golden and cooked through.
Repeat with the remaining naan bread. Brush the cooked naan bread with additional melted butter if desired and enjoy.
